I activate the Sun Glyph flags in collaboration with other participants in locations like fields, forests and river beds as a subversion of traditional color guard displays that center nationalistic narratives of domination and division. Bringing light-based symbols to life through communal movements in natural settings, we reclaim what flags can stand for: a celebration of ecological models of kinship, shared leadership and connection among humans and the more than human world. Sun Glyph Flags - A Walking Ritual took place in June of 2025 in Prespa, Greece, at WAC25, a convening of walking artists and scholars from all over the world.
